The Leather

Full-grain, vegetable-tanned, and meant to change.

We use hides tanned slowly with tree bark and natural tannins, not chrome. The surface is left uncorrected, so the grain, veining and small marks of the animal remain. Oils from your hands, sunlight and rain darken and burnish it over months. No two bags end up the same.

Care

Natural leather marks, darkens and softens with use. Keep away from prolonged water contact, oils and direct heat. Condition lightly with a neutral leather balm once or twice a year. Store in the supplied cotton bag.

Patina Times began as a single workbench in a garage in East Los Angeles. Every RO Tote is still cut from the hide by hand, edged, stitched and finished by one person from start to end. We make in small runs, sign the interior, and number each bag.

The name is the promise: leather is a record of time. We build bags that get better the longer you keep them.
